Dylan How I Became ME!

The world around us can impact us in various ways. Music, television, magazines, friends, family, and much more, are all things that influence us to become who we are as individuals. Personally, I became me through my family, friends, and sports. Through their influences, I basically have molded myself in ways, to fit in with friends, but make my family proud. Without them and the experiences I endured with them, I would be a different person in entirety.
My family have been had a major impact on my life, as is with anyone. Even if someone is absent family, that lifestyle can shape them to be independent or even lonely. I am fortunate to have a family that has stuck together through the years, and have always looked after one another. Both my parents have instilled the typical traits of honesty, responsibility, care towards others, and maturity, while my brother has taught me what it takes to achieve one's goals academically and was a perfect role model as a morally good and just person. Despite the parenting style used most commonly, my father taught me to be "Better than him." To not be held down by those around me, but rather carry them up with me. To strive to fulfill my full potential and stray away from negative influences. My mother instilled various christian principles and is my sole reason that I am as close to God as I am. Without her, it is quite possible I would never have found His light and guidance. The core of my personality and foundation of my religion is contributed to my family.
Admittedly, I am not the most extroverted and social person, yet my closest friends through the years have been quite the opposite. It is almost as if I searched for friends to help me become more social, and simply by being around them, I have become a more confident person socially. In many cases my friends have been quite immature, and a lot of my humor may be contributed to this. The things I find amusing are typically considered inappropriate by society. Despite the impact my friends have had on me socially, I have still remained mature, calm, and collective perhaps through heredity.
Another major influence in my life has been sports. Organized sports where team work is a necessity have taught me how to get along with others regardless of my feelings towards them. Even if one dispute is evident among a team, it is more than capable to escalate into something that can tear a team asunder. Sports have also taught me to compete to the very end. To never give up because you never know what might happen. Finally, it taught me that preparation is key. If you're prepared for what is to come before it passes, you will be successful. Whether its a test, a sporting event, or anything else, preparation will help one excel and achieve their goals.
All of these factors have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am grateful to have the various influences that I have had. If one is willing to analyze others and their life, something can be learned in just about any situation. It is because of this that we must be conscious of what we say and do, because our actions may impact others in major ways whether we are aware of this, or not.
