Ritual: Haircuts

The humans have a strange ritual of severing the hairs on their head for superficial reasons. Each human is judged by others on how their hair appears and it can either bring praises or ridicule. They use many different tools, sprays and creams to shape it to their liking. The females worry over it the most, it affects their social standing and ability to attract a mate.
Humans go to another who specializes in this severing. for men they use a strange electrical device that buzzes along their scalp with a plastic covering that cuts their hair to the desired length. Women go through much more trouble and use various types of crossing blades to do minor trims here and there to meet very specific desires. The Hair Cutter may lay the female back and put her head in a basin with a fountain and rub strange smelling creams in the hair that may soften or make it shine to a certain degree. They then take their hair and use a device that blows heated air on their head to dry it.
Females often use this strange procedure as a time to socialize with others about daily life and current events going on in their communities. Even in the face of strange, sharp objects they act with a calm manner and consider it quite normal. Females consider it very pleasing if the slight changes they had made to their hair is noticed by their male companion or other females. To humans, it is a very big deal if one is to change the current "style" or color of the hair. To some, it is very drastic and can change how people may think of them.
There are some humans who use their hair specifically to draw attention to themselves. They may use a cream that hardens the hair into long points the project from their scalp, giving a somewhat porcupine appearance. Some even shear the sides of the head leaving a long strip down the middle of their head.

Awesome description of a ritual we have and how its different between men and women. But I feel you could have described each tool used to cut hair more in-depth.
